Solipsistic Interlude

Normally I wouldn't be writing an entry on this most Holy of Days commemorating the day when the Universe was Created according to Ancient Records, but, what the hey. I took off from my day job and plan to go down to some of the second-hand bookshops on lower Broadway and buy a bunch of books to add to the mounting backlog I have to read.

One thing I won't do is go see the new Pink Panther out of deepest respect for Peter Sellers and Blake Edwards.

Even so, there are a few things that bring a smile to my face on this momentous day. Scooter's starting to fess up. "Abee" (my imagined Bush nickname for Jack Abramoff) continues to assert that he and the POTUS were buddies. And even a group of Evangelical Christians have started to oppose the POTUS on the issue of global warming (Evangelical Christians using science? Next thing you know cats and dogs will start living together.)

Anyhow, the day's a-wasting, and I have some things to do.

When I first saw the previews, I assumed that Kevin Kline would be Clouseau. But Steve Martin?! And what's your alternative? Another remake of "When a Stranger Calls."

I have to agree - Clouseau died with Peter Sellers. Another shudder-worthy movie is already in the works: Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are threatening to remake "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid." They must be stopped.

Thank you U and Myrna for your comments protecting the integrity of Inspector Clouseau against the vanity of certain present day artistes and large multinational media corporations. Not that it was different then, just better, more pure. Although you and everyone else, I believe, missed out on the solipsistic significance of the Beginning of the Universe. No matter, it always has been and always will be lonely at the top. That's why We invented you human folk after all. No offense, hopefully, none taken. Selah.
